my thoughts on health and motherhood

+

It's not just us, modern-day motherhood is hard but we can choose different for ourselves.

+

We can be incredible moms without sacrificing our own health and well-being.

+

There is no one strategy to achieve “health” - it's a very personal and evolving journey.

+

A mom’s health is not a distraction - it’s one of the greatest gifts she could pass on to her children.

+

We get one shot at this life - so let's speak more truth, take better care of ourselves, & live.

a few pages of my story

Becoming a mom broke apart my ab muscles and skin... and also my spirit.

In my early years of motherhood, I cycled through anxiety, depression, brain fog, debilitating fatigue, unexplained weight gain, skin issues, chronic sinus infections, bloating, and more. I also cycled through doctors, podcasts, and books, searching for answers about what was wreaking havoc on my body (which turned out to be the many complications of autoimmune disease).

I thought I was in a small minority of women struggling with their health or other challenges this new role brought.

The reality? I was a mom of young babies, who just experienced a massive amount change to her body and life, and who also had little consistent help (like many other moms). I was a woman who constantly made room for everyone else's needs, wants, and opinions (like many other women). And I was an individual who had never put too much thought into their health... until all of the flashing, check-engine lights were too bright to ignore (like many other individuals).

Through it all, it became clear just how complicated and personal this concept of “health” really is… especially when you layer in the complexities of modern-day motherhood.

And while I’ve come out the other side of much of this (having reduced or completely gotten rid of symptoms, understanding myself better than ever, and never being afraid to prioritize my needs)… it definitely didn’t happen over night, and it didn't happen without help.

I hated to think of all the women coming up behind me, spending their first years - even decade - of motherhood going through similar challenges on their own. I believe if we offer moms more individualized, proactive support, they can skip a lot of unnecessary struggle and enjoy creating their unique healthy mom lifestyle. So I turned my personal experience into professional credentials, and now it’s my mission to do just that.

It took years of my own self-led research, education, and experimentation:

the journey

  • before I could properly connect all of the dots between how I was feeling and why, so I could make necessary changes

  • before I could confidently advocate for myself to health care professionals and access more proactive support

  • before I could build the motivation to keep moving forward, and improve my ability to problem-solve and pivot

  • before I could pick apart all of the beliefs that kept me over-functioning, so I could use my time & resources wisely

  • before I could create a sustainable healthy lifestyle that honored my needs as a woman as much as my role as a mother

(It does not have to take you this long… let’s shorten this timeline)

coaching style

+ I think of food, habits, self-awareness, and support as powerful tools to shape our health and experiences.

+ I’m an Enneagram 4, Human Design Projector, and INFJ - put all of those together and you’ve got someone who:

  • loves deep conversation

  • searches for meaning

  • craves creativity

  • looks to problem-solve

  • wants to support & guide others

+ Chit chatting about the weather isn’t my strong suit - but want to chat about your health, your dreams, your fears, and ponder the meaning of life? I am there with lots of thoughts (and probably a few jokes to crack).

+ I believe motherhood is an incredible part of you, but it’s not all of you… and I’m looking forward to getting to know the woman behind the mom.

+ When it comes to your life and body, I’m not the expert here - YOU are. Your perspective is just as important as anything I have to offer. Think of me like a streetlamp - I help the journey feel more visible and enjoyable, but ultimately you’re the one who’s driving the car.

+ I’ll likely relate to and empathize with so much of what you’re going through, and I’ll want to help you in anyway I can… even still, you better believe I’m going to challenge you to take YOUR freaking power back. Because at the end of the day, the possibilities, solutions, and changes all lie within you.
